There Once Was a Pumpkin

There once was a pumpkin short and fat,
Alone in the garden there he sat.
A little girl picked him from the vine,
Took him home and said, “He’s mine!”
She carved a funny face with a great big smile,
Put in a candle and after a while,
He wasn’t a pumpkin short and fat,
He was a jack-o-lantern — just like that!
