Subject: [LDSmmBrazilSo] pkg ideas
I’ve had a request to send out my list of package ideas for a missionary.
Here is a list of ideas on what to send to a missionary. These are suggestions only–I’m sure you can add or subtract to this list.
FOOD items to send:
Spaghetti, taco, chili packets
Gravy packets
Beef Jerky (cannot be sent to some countries)
Lipton dry soup
Kool-Aid, Tang, Crystal Lite packaged drinks
Hot chocolate
Jell-O, instant pudding pkg.’s
Fruit Roll-ups
Instant oatmeal
CANDY–the big favorite. Make sure it is kept in the original package,
and something that can easily be shared with others. Try not to send items that will melt.
NON-FOOD Items:
Good quality anti-fungal foot POWDER (Micatin, Tinactin, Gold Bond)
good quality socks, such as Gold Toe from JC Penney, Thorlo, Missionary Mall Walk Sock, white or black,
They use white socks on P-days.
T-shirt (with appropriate logos for a missionary)
Bandaids and other First Aid items
small pocket-sized notebooks
pens, colored pens, pencils, small pencil sharpener, and scripture
marking pencils.
post cards, stationery, paper, envelopes
religious stickers, 3×5 cards, markers, small religious pictures
available at Deseret Book)
On personal care products, small sizes are best. It saves you postage
money, and missionaries dislike big sizes because of transfers…they are hard to fit in a suitcase!
Shampoo
Deodorant
Toothbrush
Pocket comb, travel brush for Sister missionaries, pocket mirror and
Toothpaste
Shaving Cream
Mascara for Sister missionaries, facial cleanser
Pocket or Purse Kleenex
Mini flash light, mini screw driver, bike repair tools
Gloves, neck scarves for those serving in cold areas.
Sweaters
Ties (conservative in design and color).
Chap Stick
Small bottle of lotion
Trouser socks for Sister missionaries (wear longer than the Knee-hi’s)
Postage stamps (if serving in the U.S.)
LDS Jewelry (tie tacs for Elders, CTR necklaces for Sisters, etc.)

Instructions to our missionary:
The first day of Christmas is Dec. 14th, so open Package #1 on December
14th, package #2 on the 15th, and so on until you open package #12 on
Christms Day! We hope that you have fun knowing that we think about you
every day!
On the first day of Christmas to add to your celebration,
We had to make this day a really COOL sensation.
Go ahead, don’t be afraid of just a little razzle,
To your Christmas Spirit this will really add the dazzle!
(We sent a snowman doorknob wreath)
On the 2nd day of Christmas, we are steeped in tradition,
And so, to you out there, we are making this addition.
Christmas carols we’ve sent along your way
We hope these songs will brighten each and every day.
(Tabernacle Choir Christmas Tape)
On the 3rd day of Christmas, you’re always on our list,
Here’s something fun to eat so you know that you are missed.
Sit down – take off your shoes, here’s something you adore,
The cakes will give you energy as you go door to door!
(Box of Little Debbie cakes)
On the 4th day of Christmas, even though you have no tree,
This special little ornament you will plainly see.
When hung it will remind you of our love
And all the special blessings Father grants us from above.
(Angel ornament)
On the 5th day of Christmas, the days go by so fast,
We wanted to provide you with something that will last.
A helpful little something that will make your kitchen cheery,
So that the task tomorrow will not seem quite so dreary.
(Christmas kitchen towel)
On the 6th day of Christmas, our hearts began to swell
The love we feel inside for you we could never tell.
Please wear this token of our love for you all day today,
If others ask just what it means,This is what you’ll say, “I AM LOVED”!
(Tie Tac)
On the 7th day of Christmas, we know you need some fun
So here is something you can do with just your little thumb.
We know it is your favorite game of all the many sports
You can play it at the table and won’t even need your shorts!
(Basketball game)
On the 8th day of Christmas, to brighten up your smile,
Take out your brand new toothbrush and use it for awhile.
Flash those pearly whites to everyone you see,
It will help you be the missionary that you want to be!
(Toothbrush and floss)
On the 9th day of Christmas, we know you’re working hard.
We knew that you’d need something more than just a little card.
This is sure to help you as you’re working up a sweat,
Be sure to use it every day so you’ll have no regret!
(Deodorant and Cologne)
On the 10th day of Christmas, the big day will soon be here.
You know how much we love you at this special time of year.
“Love One Another” was the Lord’s admonition,
So please take lots of pictures to help fulfill this mission.
(camera film)
‘Tis the night before Christmas and all through the house,
Not a creature is stirring, not even a mouse.
This stocking was stuffed by your mother with care,
With hopes that your Christmas is more than just fair.
So open your goodies – your sock’s full to the top
With much love from your family that never will stop!
(Stocking full of candies, pencils, stickers etc. + identical one for
companion)
CHRISTMAS DAY is so special though you’re miles from home.
Whisperings of the Spirit tell us you’re not alone.
This gift you’ve enjoyed at this time of year
Has kept our thoughts close and helped us feel near!

12 Days of Christmas for Missionary #2
With each present we’ve included
A scripture for the day. We think
we’ve been real clever
So look them up, now don’t delay.
(I rewrote this poem to read something like:
With each present we’ve attached
A scripture as a clue.
So look them up, and try to guess
What’s wrapped inside for you.
We hope you like the things we’ve sent
And think we are real clever.
Because we want to wish for you
The Merriest Christmas ever!
Feel free to use either poem or write your own.
(Note with each gift should include only the scripture reference, not
