I bring to your attention those great words of the Lord to Thomas: “Be not faithless, but believing.” This is such a marvelous season of your lives. It is a time not only of positive thinking but sometimes of critical thinking. Let me urge you to not let your critical thinking override your faith. President Gordon B. Hinckley
This work stands as an anchor of stability, an anchor of values, in a world whose values are shifting. We stand for something. Our values find their roots in the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. These are unchanging. They are today as they were when Jesus walked the roads of Palestine. They are as applicable now as they were then. They have been tested in the cauldron of human history, and they have not been found wanting. We expect great things of our people. This religion is demanding. It requires self-discipline. It requires study and courage and faith. People are responding to this as they feel the ground under them shake with uncertainties in a world of crumbling values. President Gordon B. Hinckley
We are a people who have taken upon us a solemn covenant and the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us strive a little harder to keep the commandments, to live as the Lord has asked us to live. We are His Children. He delights in our good behavior and I think He grieves when we misbehave. President Gordon B. Hinckley, From St. George Utah Pineview Stake Conference, Jan. 14, 1996.
The Church is the great teacher and builder of values. Its precepts are designed to lead men and women along the way of immortality and eternal life, to make their lives more complete, more rich and happy while moving through this veil of tears, and in preparing them for the beauties and wonders of that which lies ahead. Keep faith with the Church. It is true. It is divine. He who stands at its head is the Lord Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of the world. It is the Church of the Almighty which carries the name of His Divine Son. Its earthly leaders are those who are called of God under a plan which He put in place. Gordon B. Hinckley – BYU Devotional, Oct. 17, 1995.
Glorious Work: Let us go forward in this glorious work. How exciting and wonderful it is. I do not know how anybody can feel gloomy for very long who is a member of this Church. Do you feel gloomy? Lift your eyes. Stand on your feet. Say a few words of appreciation and love to the Lord. Be positive. Think of what great things are occurring as the Lord brings to pass His eternal purposes. This is a day of prophecy fulfilled, my brothers and sisters, this great day in the history of this Church. This is the day of which has been spoken of by those who have gone before us. Let us live worthy of our birthright. Keep the faith. Nurture your testimonies. Walk in righteousness and the Lord will bless you and prosper you and you will be a happy and wonderful people. – Gordon B. Hinckley
The religion of which you are a part is seven days a week, it isn’t just Sunday; it isn’t the block plan, it isn’t just three hours in Church; it isn’t just the time you spend in seminary, it’s all the time — 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. President Gordon B. Hinckley, From Parowan Youth Fireside Jan. 13, 1996.
