A Child’s Wish At Christmas

December 19, 2007 · Filed Under Christmas Poems

Christmas is just wonderful
It’s a special time of year
There is Joy and Love and presents
It’s the season of good cheer

From Washington to Timbuktu
The whole word joins as one
I like it more than Yom Kippur
It’s more fun than Ramadan

It commemorates someone’s birthday
But I can’t recall just who
It’s an International holiday
And there are lots of things to do

We send best wishes via a fat man
With a red suit and flowing beard
He blesses all the children
And he gives toys away at Sears

People the whole World over
Are close this time of year
They relax their own traditions
And reach out to someone dear

But Mum says “Bethlehem’s a worry”
And in Jerusalem there’s a war
But I asked her why does Palestine - which is far away
Bring trouble to our door

Don’t they realize that it’s Christmas
And we should spread love this time of year
I wish they’d try to be more like us
And don’t let religion interfere
